Tall fescue grows with an erect, stiff habit, is highly resistant to frost and drought, and is easy to manage at the optimum mown height of 150mm. Managing airport grassland at this height has been shown to reduce the number of birdstrikes on aircraft in flight.

Annual ryegrass is included in the mix for its rapid germination and ground cover, acting as a nurse crop while the tall fescue establishes.

Packaging may vary.

Mixture Composition

%

Cultivar

Species

20

Debussy

tall fescue

75

Essential

tall fescue

5

Quickston

annual ryegrass – turf type

*Cultivars are subject to availability, and may differ from that listed.

Key Features

Hardy: highly frost and drought resistant.

Fast start: extremely fast germination.

Birdstrike management: optimum mowing height of 150mm.

Directions for Use

Sowing Rate (g/m2)

Overseeding Rate (g/m2)

Mowing Height (mm)

20

10

150

Sowing guidance

Prepare the surface before sowing, making sure that:

Stones and weeds are removed.

There is sufficient drainage.

The surface is level and firm.

The surface is moist.

Sow the seed evenly at the correct sowing rate, to a depth of approximately 10mm.

Keep the surface moist for at least 2 - 3 weeks.

Make the first cut when the grass is 5 - 6cm tall and tillering has started.

Overseeding guidance

Prepare the existing turf by removing excess thatch and limiting irrigation and fertilisation.

Apply at the correct overseeding rate.

For best results use a disc seeder or a studded seed roller.

Please note: occasionally shortages of some varieties may occur, so unavailable varieties may be replaced with a suitable alternative.
