50g Long Lasting Weed Control Herbicide
This professional, non-selective residual herbicide is applied pre-emergence. Once on the surface it stays active for up to 5 months, stopping susceptible broad-leaved and grass weeds from emerging on a range of non-crop surfaces and around amenity vegetation.
Key Features
- Long-lasting residual activity of up to 5 months from a single treatment
- Non-selective: controls a broad spectrum of annual and perennial broad-leaved weeds and grasses
- Pre-emergence action: forms a barrier on the surface that prevents a wide range of broad-leaved and grass weeds from germinating
- Low application rate of 150g/ha, applied once per year
- This 50g bottle treats 3,333m² for up to 5 months
- Has limited effect on very young weeds; tank mix with glyphosate to add post-emergence control to the long-lasting residual effect
- Water dispersible granule formulation
How to Use
When to Use
The herbicide works best when applied from early to late spring, before weeds have germinated. Recommended application window: February, March, April and May. Where weeds are already visible, tank mix with a suitable foliar herbicide such as glyphosate.
Application Details
| Maximum Treatments | Pack Coverage | Application Method | Application Rate | Water Volume | Spray Quality |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 per annum | 3,333m² | Conventional knapsack sprayer | 150g/ha | 200-600l/ha | Medium |
| 1 per annum | 3,333m² | Vehicle mounted sprayer | 150g/ha | 200-600l/ha | Medium |
Mixing and Application
- Fill the spray tank with half of the water needed.
- Add the required quantity of the herbicide and agitate thoroughly.
- Top the tank up with water to the required level.
- Use the spray solution straight away.
- Do not cultivate or rake the treated area afterwards, so the barrier stays intact and persistence is maximised.
- After use, clean the application equipment with a diluted ammonia solution.
For best results, leave the surface undisturbed after application so the barrier effect remains active.
Applications
- Natural surfaces not intended to bear vegetation – areas of soil or natural rock outcrops that are not meant to carry vegetation
- Permeable surfaces overlying soil – any man-made permeable surface (other than railway ballast) laid over soil and not meant to carry vegetation
- Hard surfaces (railway ballast only) – railway ballast surfaces not meant to carry vegetation
- Amenity vegetation (around) – areas of semi-natural or ornamental vegetation, including trees (see the product label for susceptible non-target plants)

Active Substance: Flazasulfuron
- Bio-chemical mode of action: flazasulfuron is in the Acetolactate Synthase (ALS) inhibitor group of herbicides. ALS is a key enzyme in the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids; blocking it makes the plant turn chlorotic, followed by necrosis of plant tissue and then death of the whole plant.
- Mobility: a systemic penetrant, so the active substance moves downwards through the plant in the phloem (sugar-conducting tissue) and upwards in the xylem (water-conducting tissue).
- Application timing: residual ALS inhibitors give the best results when applied before weeds emerge.
- Resistance: ALS inhibitor herbicides carry a high risk of resistance, especially in grass weeds such as black-grass, Italian rye-grass and wild oats. Follow the label instructions and rotate with herbicides that have different modes of action to reduce this risk.
Notes
- A Local Environment Risk Assessment for Pesticides (LERAP) must be completed in line with CRD's published guidance before every spraying operation with a horizontal boom sprayer.
- Use only on natural or porous surfaces such as gravel where the user can confirm the underlying surface is soil, and on railway ballast.
- Must not be applied to any non-porous man-made surface.
- Avoid spray drift onto non-target plants.
- To prevent resistance building up, do not apply this or any other ALS inhibitor herbicide for grass weed control more than once per year.
- When treating around amenity vegetation, do not apply near species planted less than 2 years ago.
- Do not let direct spray fall within 5m (horizontal boom and train sprayers) or 1 m (hand-held sprayers) of the top of the bank of any static or flowing water body.
