Black Pond & Lake Dye 1L – Non-Toxic Water Colourant to Shade Out Algae & Aquatic Weeds
A water-based black colourant for lakes, fisheries and other enclosed water bodies. It creates a natural, reflective surface that improves how the water looks, and gives water management professionals an efficient, practical way to support overall algae management. It is widely used in commercial lakes, fisheries and managed water systems because it is non-toxic.
As well as improving appearance, it shades the water, which helps control algae and aquatic weed growth by reducing photosynthesis. Its non-toxic pigments make it safe for use in fisheries, ornamental waters and irrigation systems.

How to Use
When to use
For best results, apply early in the season before algae and aquatic weeds start to establish.
Applying
- Add the required volume directly into the water; it disperses naturally through normal water movement.
- Distribution can be improved by keeping the water circulating, for example with pumps or aeration systems.
- Apply near the shoreline at several points around the lake or pond for the best coverage.
- Re-applying helps keep the desired water colour throughout the season.
- Do NOT apply to streams, rivers, outflows or any water not completely controlled by the user.
Application rate: 2.5 - 5L/ha. Higher rates may be needed in smaller or more contained water bodies to get the desired effect.
