5L Glyphosate Total Herbicide for Weed Control
This is a professional total herbicide containing 360g/l glyphosate, supplied here in a 5L pack. The glyphosate travels systemically through the plant, giving highly effective control of unwanted vegetation while it is actively growing.
Key Features
- 360g/l glyphosate soluble concentrate
- Controls annual and perennial grasses and most broad-leaved weeds
- Systemic action carries the active substance down into the roots, so treated plants do not grow back
- Well suited to contract spraying and to managing large areas
- Can be used with conventional vehicle-mounted or handheld sprayers, rotary atomisers, stem injection and weed wipers
How to Use
Where to use
This herbicide can be used in many situations, including those below. See the label for details of further uses.
- Edible & non-edible crops (destruction) – any edible or non-edible crop before re-cropping
- Forest – groups of trees growing in their final positions, for example after planting out from a forest nursery
- Grassland (destruction) – land used for grass production, including short and long-term grass leys and permanent pasture, which may be grazed and/or cut for later animal consumption
- Hard surfaces – any man-made impermeable surface not intended to bear vegetation, such as concrete or asphalt, including railway ballast
- Land immediately adjacent to aquatic areas – the bank of any water course or body of water
- Natural surfaces not intended to bear vegetation – areas of soil or natural outcrops of rock not intended to bear vegetation
- Open waters – any natural or artificial body of water that drains to a water course or serves as a reservoir for domestic water supplies
- Permeable surfaces overlying soil – any man-made permeable surface (excluding railway ballast), such as gravel, that lies over soil and is not intended to bear vegetation
When to use
Apply after grasses and broad-leaved weeds have emerged and are growing actively, normally March to October. Perennial broad-leaved weeds are usually most susceptible at or close to flowering. Perennial grasses must have put on fresh, green, vigorous leaves. Application must be followed by a rain-free period of at least six hours, and ideally 24 hours.

Application methods
- Conventional vehicle-mounted or handheld sprayers: apply at 1.5-10l/ha in 80-250l/ha of water through a medium or coarse spray quality nozzle
- Conventional rotary atomisers: use a spray volume of 10-40l/ha
- Stem injection: use 2ml of neat solution for stems up to 10cm diameter
- Weed wipers: mix 1 part herbicide with 1-2 parts water (depending on the wiper type and weather conditions)
| Situation or type of weed | Application rate | |
|---|---|---|
| Annual weeds | 1.5l/ha | |
| Perennial grasses | 4.0l/ha | |
| Perennial broadleaved weeds | 5.0 - 6.0l/ha | |
| Rhododendron | 10l/ha | |
| Grassland destruction | 1-2 years old | 3l/ha |
| 2-4 years old | 4l/ha | |
| Long leys (4-7 years old) | 5l/ha | |
| Permanent grassland | 6l/ha | |
Tip: using this herbicide together with an adjuvant improves uptake (especially when rain is forecast), speeds up action and reduces the glyphosate rate needed.

Active substance: glyphosate
- Bio-chemical mode of action: glyphosate is in the Inhibition of Enolpyruvyl Shikimate Phosphate Synthase (ESPS) group of herbicides. ESPS herbicides shut down the shikimate pathway, which the plant relies on to produce the proteins it needs to grow and survive.
- Mobility: a systemic penetrant, translocated downwards through the plant in the phloem (sugar-conducting tissue) and upwards in the xylem (water-conducting tissue).
- Application timing: ESPS herbicides work best on actively growing weeds and are generally more effective on younger plants in their vegetative phases.
- Resistance: as of 2018, resistance had been identified in 38 weed species across 37 countries, in 34 different crop and 6 non-crop situations.
Notes
- Consult the appropriate water regulatory body before using near water
- Do not apply lime, fertiliser, manure or pesticides within seven days of treatment
- Does not give acceptable control of horsetail; repeat treatment will be needed
- Avoid contact with non-target plants
- Do not spray weeds that are suffering from drought stress
- Do not spray in frosty conditions
