5L Glyphosate Weed Killer Concentrate 480g/L
This professional total weed killer is supplied as a 5L soluble concentrate containing 480g/l glyphosate. Its patented potassium salt formulation is paired with a blend of two surfactants, optimised to work efficiently on the leaf surface and to give a synergistic boost to glyphosate uptake and overall performance. The formulation is built to a high technical specification and was designed with glyphosate stewardship in mind.
Key Features
- High concentration: helps cut packaging waste and means less product to transport
- Superior performance in challenging conditions: more reliable in hot and dry or cool and dry conditions, helping you make the most of spray weather windows
- Clean label: classed as non-hazardous under COSHH, carries no hazard symbol for transport and storage, and is approved for use in aquatic areas
- Low drift formulation: lowers the risk of bystander exposure, of damage to neighbouring plantings and of direct contamination of surface water
- Improved rainfastness and speed of uptake: rainfast in 1 hour for annuals and 4 hours for perennials, reducing run-off risk and making sure as much glyphosate as possible reaches the roots
- Improved hard water efficacy: no extra water conditioners are needed, making it cost efficient
- Controls heavyweight weeds
How It Works
As a total herbicide, it is sprayed onto green leaves, absorbed and carried into the plant's vascular system. There it halts production of the amino acids that build the proteins the plant needs to grow and survive, so the plant effectively starves.
How to Use
Application Rates
| Rates per hectare | Dilution for 200l/ha water volume | Weeds controlled |
|---|---|---|
| 2.25 Litres | 1:87 or 12ml per litre of water | Annual grasses, annual broad-leaved weeds |
| 3.0 Litres | 1:67 or 15ml per litre of water | Arable weeds pre-planting of trees |
| 3.75 Litres | 1:53 or 19ml per litre of water | Most perennial weeds |
| 4.5 Litres | 1:44 or 23ml per litre of water | Floating aquatic weeds |
| 7.5 Litres | 1:27 or 37ml per litre of water | Rhododendron, Ivy Horsetail and difficult waxy-leaved plants |
Application Window
March to October.
Timing
Plan spraying around conditions rather than fixed dates. Do not make the first application until weeds have emerged and are actively growing, which will differ from year to year depending on the weather. Typical spray windows are late April to mid-May for spring treatment, an optional follow-up spray in summer, and a further spray between August and September.
Monitoring the Results
Inspect and assess treated areas to judge performance and decide whether follow-up treatment is needed. Die-back does not appear until 7-10 days after spraying, so it helps to recognise the early signs. Annual Meadow-grass shows symptoms first, turning slightly yellow a few days after treatment; other grasses then go yellow, followed by reddish brown, before dying.
Broad-leaved weeds may still look healthy at this stage, but on close inspection the leaf centres will be turning white, and the plant will be dead within a week. At the 3.75 litre rate you can expect a 95% kill of all weeds roughly 10 - 21 days after treatment. Seedlings that germinate after spraying will NOT be affected.
For professional control of Japanese Knotweed, stem injection equipment is used.
Applications
Areas of use include: all edible crops (before planting), all edible crops (stubble), all non edible crops (before planting), all non edible crops (stubble), amenity vegetation, apple (outdoor, around), asparagus, barley, bulb onion and cherry (outdoor, around).
