5L Total Herbicide 360g/L Glyphosate Systemic Solution

Overview

This professional, foliar-applied, systemic penetrant total herbicide contains 360g/L glyphosate. Because glyphosate travels through the treated plant, it controls the roots of unwanted vegetation as well as the top growth. One 5L bottle treats up to 3.3ha.

Key Features

  • Contains 360g/L glyphosate
  • Systemic action controls both top growth and roots
  • Includes a surfactant in the formulation, which helps the active substance penetrate plant cells for better control
  • Post-emergence control of a wide range of annual and perennial broad-leaved and grass weeds
  • Can be applied with weed wipers and controlled droplet applicators as well as conventional spray equipment
  • 5L pack treats up to 3.3ha

How to Use

When to use

Apply once grasses and broad-leaved weeds have emerged and are growing actively, normally March to October. Perennial broad-leaved weeds are usually most susceptible at or close to flowering, and perennial grasses must have put on fresh, green, vigorous leaves. Application must be followed by at least six hours, and preferably 24 hours, without rain.

Rates and equipment

Application rates, water volumes and equipment vary with the area of use and the weeds being targeted, so always check the product label for full details for your situation. The table below is a general guide:

Weed Type Pack Coverage Application Rate Water Volume
Annual weeds 3.3ha 1.5l/ha 80 - 400L/ha (40l/ha for rotary atomisers)
Perennial grasses and broadleaved weeds 1-1.25ha 4-5l/ha 80 - 400L/ha (40l/ha for rotary atomisers)
  • Tractor-mounted and powered sprayers or handheld spray equipment: apply 1.5-5l/ha in 80-400l/ha of water through a medium or coarse spray quality nozzle. Agitate gently while filling so the herbicide is spread evenly through the sprayer, and add a defoamer if needed.
  • Knapsack sprayers: apply 1.5-5l/ha in 80-400l/ha of water.
  • Conventional rotary atomisers: use a spray volume of at least 40l/ha, with a droplet diameter in the 200-300 microns range.
  • Ropewick applicator weed wipers: mix 1 part herbicide with 2 parts water, adding a water-soluble dye if required.
  • New generation weed wipers: mix 1 part herbicide with 10-20 parts water.

Application information

  • Keep the spray off non-target plants
  • Allow at least 6 hours, and preferably 24 hours, without rain after application
  • Do not spray weeds that are naturally senescent or whose growth is held back by drought, high temperatures, dust, flooding or frost
  • Do not spray in windy weather
  • If large amounts of decaying plant material are present after application, cultivate before drilling a crop

Applications

  • Amenity vegetation: any semi-natural or ornamental vegetation, including trees (see the product label for susceptible non-target plants)
  • Forest: groups of trees growing in their final positions
  • Forest nursery: outdoor areas where trees are raised for later forest replanting
  • Hard surfaces: any man-made impermeable surface, such as concrete or asphalt, including railway ballast
  • Natural surfaces not intended to bear vegetation: areas of soil or natural rock outcrops not meant to carry vegetation
  • Permeable surfaces overlying soil: any man-made permeable surface (excluding railway ballast), such as gravel, that lies over soil and is not meant to carry vegetation

Active Substance: Glyphosate

  • Bio-chemical mode of action: glyphosate is in the Inhibition of Enolpyruvyl Shikimate Phosphate Synthase (ESPS) group of herbicides. ESPS herbicides shut down the shikimate pathway the plant uses to produce the proteins it needs to grow and survive.
  • Mobility: glyphosate is a systemic penetrant, so the active substance can be moved downwards through the plant in the phloem (sugar-conducting tissue) and upwards in the xylem (water-conducting tissue).
  • Application timing: ESPS herbicides work best on actively growing weeds and are generally more effective on younger plants in their vegetative stages.
  • Resistance: as of 2018, resistance had been identified in 38 weed species across 37 countries, in 34 different crop and 6 non-crop situations.
