5L Total Weed Killer Glyphosate Herbicide
This is a professional, foliar-applied systemic penetrant total herbicide, supplied here in a 5L pack. Its 360g/l glyphosate moves systemically through the plant to give highly effective control of unwanted vegetation while it is actively growing.
Key Features
- 360g/l glyphosate soluble concentrate
- Controls annual and perennial grasses and most broad-leaved weeds
- A blend of two surfactants in the formulation reduces drift during application and makes the product rainfast quickly once applied
- Better retention, uptake and translocation deliver more glyphosate to the growing points for superior long-term weed control
- Five litres cover 0.5ha to 3.8ha at 1.3-10L/ha
- An ideal tank mix partner, controlling existing vegetation and giving long-lasting weed control
How to Use
Where to use
This herbicide can be used in many situations, including those below. See the label for details of further uses.
- Amenity vegetation – any area of semi-natural or ornamental vegetation, including trees
- Enclosed waters – any natural or artificial body of water that does not drain to a water course
- Forest – groups of trees growing in their final positions, for example after planting out from a forest nursery
- Grassland (destruction) – land used for grass production, including short and long-term grass leys and permanent pasture, which may be grazed and/or cut for later animal consumption
- Hard surfaces – any man-made impermeable surface not intended to bear vegetation, such as concrete or asphalt, including railway ballast
- Land immediately adjacent to aquatic areas – the bank of any water course or body of water
- Open waters – any natural or artificial body of water that drains to a water course or serves as a reservoir for domestic water supplies
- Permeable surfaces overlying soil – any man-made permeable surface (excluding railway ballast), such as gravel, that lies over soil and is not intended to bear vegetation
When to use
Apply after grasses and broad-leaved weeds have emerged and are growing actively, normally March to October. Application must be followed by a rain-free period of at least six hours, and ideally 24 hours.

Application methods
- Conventional vehicle-mounted or handheld sprayers: apply at 1.3-10l/ha in 80-400l/ha through a medium spray quality nozzle
- Specialised ULV applicators: apply neat
- Conventional rotary atomisers: use a spray volume of 10-40l/ha
- Stem injection: use 2ml of neat solution per stem
- Weed wipers: mix 1 part weed killer concentrate with 1-2 parts water
| Situation or type of weed | Application rate | Water Volume for conventional spray equipment |
|---|---|---|
| Annual weeds | 1.3l/ha | 80-250l/ha |
| Perennial grasses | 4.0l/ha | 80-250l/ha |
| Perennial broadleaved weeds | 5.0l/ha | 80-250l/ha |
| Grassland destruction | 3-6l/ha | 150-250l/ha |
| Enclosed water, open waters and land immediately adjacent to aquatic areas | 5-6l/ha | 100- 400l/ha |
*Full application details are given on the product label.

Active substance: glyphosate
- Bio-chemical mode of action: glyphosate is in the Inhibition of Enolpyruvyl Shikimate Phosphate Synthase (ESPS) group of herbicides. ESPS herbicides shut down the shikimate pathway, which the plant relies on to produce the proteins it needs to grow and survive.
- Mobility: a systemic penetrant, translocated downwards through the plant in the phloem (sugar-conducting tissue) and upwards in the xylem (water-conducting tissue).
- Application timing: ESPS herbicides work best on actively growing weeds and are generally more effective on younger plants in their vegetative phases.
- Resistance: as of 2018, resistance had been identified in 38 weed species across 37 countries, in 34 different crop and 6 non-crop situations.
Notes
- Do not apply lime, fertiliser, manure or pesticides within seven days of treatment
- Does not give acceptable control of horsetail
- Avoid contact with non-target plants
- Do not spray weeds that are suffering from drought stress
- Do not spray in frosty conditions
