Stem Injection Kits for Herbicide Application
Stem injection kits, tools, needles and service parts for treating hollow-cane, non-native invasive plants such as Japanese Knotweed. Stem injection is widely regarded as the most successful and ecologically sound way to apply herbicide to these plants. Choose the kit or part you need from the options.
Key Features
- Controlled treatment that targets only the intended species
- Can be carried out in all weather conditions, and close to water when the relevant applicator licences are held
- A small, measured dose of herbicide goes into each cane and moves through the roots and rhizome of the plant
- On healthy, vigorous plants, a single correctly applied treatment is enough to eradicate the infestation
- Since stem injection systems were first launched, stem injection has become the most dependable, fit-for-purpose method for contractors and grounds maintenance teams, and appears on a growing number of tender specifications
- Remains one of the most popular and effective treatments for non-native invasive plants, despite ongoing uncertainty over the future use of glyphosate
How to Use
Tool Use and Care
- The best time to inject canes is from June until the first frost. Canes injected before June may split.
- In the UK, follow Government and herbicide manufacturer requirements.
- Only connect the injection needle to the quick disconnect once you are at the infestation site and ready to inject.
- Inject canes of ¾ in (three quarters of an inch) or larger, between the 1st and 2nd node above the root crown.
- After using the injection tool, fill the cup with water and squirt it out until empty. Rinse and soak the cap in water to clean the check valve. If the 3 check valves in the injection tool are not cleaned, the tool will stop working, and this is not covered by the warranty.
- When the injection tool is not being used, keep the needle in the ml measuring tube to avoid injury.

Personal Safety
- Use the product only for the purpose and in the way set out in the instructions. Do not use it in any other way, modify it or alter it; anyone who does so takes on all risk, and the manufacturer accepts no responsibility for any resulting harm.
- The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for illegal or harmful use by the buyer or a third party. Users should take reasonable steps to make sure their use is legal and will not harm themselves or others.
- Use with extreme care: the injector is sharp and can puncture or cut skin if misused. If the skin is punctured, herbicide may be injected into it, which can cause serious injury or death, so seek emergency medical care immediately. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for improper use that causes skin to be punctured, cut or scraped, or for any delay in seeking emergency care.
- Always wear safety equipment when using the injector system, such as safety goggles, gloves, hard-toed construction-type footwear, long trousers and long-sleeved shirts. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for injury caused by not using, or using inadequate, safety equipment.
- Keep the product away from minors, animals and anyone unable to use it according to the instructions, and store it somewhere safe. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for harm resulting from unsafe storage or such access.
- The product contains herbicide. Avoid direct contact with it (for example swallowing, inhaling, touching, or rubbing contaminated parts or materials into the eyes). Do not aim it at people or animals, use it in crowded or busy public places, store it where it is easily reached, or fill the injector with anything other than the specified weed-killing herbicide. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for harm resulting from any of these.
- Fit the needle into the coupler with the hole facing down.
- Keep the needle safely in the measuring tube between injection sites and while carrying it in the field.
